Considered by some the presage of funerals and giving warnings of rainstorms, the black cockatoo here takes on a minatory form, as if admonishing with an accusatory eye. The single Cockatoo is set off in a reserve of luxuriant, if distorted, banksia derived from Bank's florilegium and pays homage to the illustrator Sydney Parkinson.
