The decorative foliate sections of this plate, in which three white cockatoos disport, reference a William Morris inspired needlework tapestry held in the collection of Carrick Hill in Adelaide. In the softly painted, inverted willow background, emerging from the dots stippling the lawn area in front of the Elder Rotunda, can be seen reclining a ceremonial Great Kangaroo figure, based on an image in the Strelow collection.
