About the Exhibition
A selection of paintings by artists from Utopia, N.T. Lauraine Diggins Fine Art has a longstanding relationship with Utopia, working directly with a number of artists following the closure of the art centre in 2002. With the permission of community leaders, Lauraine regularly travelled to the remote area around 350kms north east of Alice Springs and Lauraine Diggins Fine Art continues to support and exhibit artists from this area. From the elder generation of the Petyarr sisters and the Ngal sisters to the next generation who now find themselves as the senior painters of Utopia, including Angelina Ngal, Elizabeth Kunoth Kngwarray and Genevieve Kemarr Loy. A timely exhibition with international interest in Australian indigenous artists, particularly with the Emily Kngwarreye exhibition at the Tate Gallery in London. Showcasing paintings by Emily Kngwarreye, Angelina Ngal, Kathleen Ngal, Poly Ngal, Gloria Petyarr, Kathleen Petyerre, Nancy Petyarr, Greenie Purvis Petyarr, Cowboy Loy Pwerl, Elizabeth Kunoth Kngwarray, Genevieve Kemarr Loy. The fine detail, sense of movement and harmonious colour palettes of these paintings are best appreciated in person. If you would like a detail of any of the artworks emailed to you, please do contact us.Opening Night
