Mark Ashkanasy
1959 - Present
Biography
Mark Ashkanasy started out as a commercial photographer in 1982 after graduating from Prahran College. In the 1980s Mark worked principally as a location photographer in wilderness areas and the snow fields of Australia and New Zealand, and in the summer months as a commercial photographer in his Queen Street studio. By the late 80s his Melbourne-based work grew to the point that the time in the mountains was limited to only a few weeks per year. Mark has worked at three Winter Olympic Games: Lillehammer (Norway), Nagano (Japan) and Salt Lake City (USA). In Japan and the USA, Mark worked for the Australian Olympic Committee.
Today Mark works on commercial projects large and small for many and varied clients. His Port Melbourne studio is a flexible space designed for commercial and art clients alike.
In addition to general advertising/commercial photography Mark has specialized in photography for the Australian Art and Arts Industry. On occasions Mark is a guest Lecturer at the RMIT Department of Fine Art, and Melbourne Photography Studies College (PSC).
