Further Information

Yirritja moiety.

Wurramu is a spirit/creator being who 'wakes up the mind'. His life force points people in the direction to find things and energizes people to be self sufficient. He provides the possibility for people to be able to find food and materials to make shelter.
The colours - red, yellow, white and black - are the pigments of the people of the world - the colour of nature as people are moulded from nature. The triangle patterning represents the Yirritja moiety and is a body paint pattern. Wearing the triangle as body paint acts as a reminder of the importance the belonging to the world and nature. The small cross hatching represents blood line - the flow of blood through the body. The banding represents the inner being - inside we are all the same, moulded from nature, even if different colour pigment. The lines and dots represent individual nationality - the tribal differences. The base depicts the purity of the cloud design which acts as a symbol for Wurramu. Clouds equal water which equals life so the cloud here acts as a reminder of the provider.
