Helen's most recent work is work inspired by her return to the state of Victoria, her connection to Gippsland and her studies of art. The Strangers features corpulent square cows which hark back colonial paintings and to William Dobell and John Kelly, literally taped onto the landscape - a statement against the exploitation of land and destruction of indigenous culture, flora and fauna. By contrast, a warrior red gum, with deliberate reference to the Australian Impressionists, stands resilient in the landscape.
