In 1950-51, Hilda and her husband, Edgar Wright, took their son Rix, on a trip through Europe, to visit galleries and places of interest, to give him the opportunity to view original works and sculptures beyond Australia.
This was to give him some scope to help him make a decision, whether he wanted to pursue a career as an artist/sculptor, or follow in his father's footsteps on the land.
They visited Switzerland and Hilda completed this painting.
