Clinch’s meticulous approach to his art practice is apparent. Although a study, the drawing is finished in its own right, highlighting Clinch’s attitude to detail both in the pictorial sense, accuracy and precision, but also to the way he builds an image. The whimsical reference to the imagination and innocence of childhood typifies a theme found throughout his work.
