Clement Meadmore is known for his striking sculptures, using steel, aluminium and bronze and playing with shape, dramatically twisting through expressive and lyrical geometric forms. A monumental edition of Offshoot was created in 1984 to sit outside the Queensland Art Gallery.
Offshoot presents a single, squared tube twisting upward to join a horizontal section which then divides and turns once more. An illusion of lightness is created as the horizontal piece effortlessly and elegantly balances seemingly against gravity.
