Nancy explains that the Mountain Devil Lizard, also known as the Thorny Devil, travels the dream line. As the Devil passes through night and day, and different country, it changes colour. It is black at night and as the dawn breaks it changes colour, becoming brighter as the sun rises, and by midday the devil's colour has changed to yellow. The colour changes aid the devil being undetected as he passes along the dream line.
