故君子虽不玩物丧志，亦常借境调心。

Roaming freely among mountains, forests, springs, and rocks, one’s worldly desires gradually fade;

lingering within poetry, books, and paintings, one’s vulgar spirit quietly dissipates.

Thus, although a gentleman does not lose himself in external things, he often borrows such surroundings to cultivate his heart.
