Further Information
The exact location for this artwork has not been confirmed, however it is possibly Junee in the Riverina area of New South Wales or Myall Lakes on the northern New South Wales coast from the early 1920s, before she returned to Paris. Hilda Rix Nicholas undertook a driving trip with her friend Dorothy Richmond in 1927, journeying up the northern NSW coast to Queensland and this painting may have been created on that trip. Having a motor car provided an important independence to the artist, allowing her the freedom to travel more extensively and exposing her to the Australian landscape which she was drawn to paint.
