English Translation of text in the painting:

Leisurely I watch the flowers bloom and fall before the courtyard,

and freely follow the clouds drifting and unfolding beyond the sky.

Background :

出自《菜根谭》。《菜根谭》为明代洪应明所著,融合了儒家修身、道家自然、佛家空灵之理。这句话表达了顺应自然、内心悠然自得、超脱世事的生活态度。

It originates from “Cai gen tan” (Vegetable Roots Discourse).“Cai gen tan” (Vegetable Roots Discourse) was written by Hong Yingming during the Ming Dynasty. Blending Confucian cultivation, Daoist naturalness, and Buddhist detachment, this line expresses a life philosophy of following nature with a serene, untroubled heart, free from worldly concerns.
