John Dent’s new exhibition showcases over 50 gouache paintings, a medium with the immediacy and intimacy of watercolour but with the ability to layer colour pigment. The gouaches mostly depict the landscape around Australia – the lush fields of rural Victoria; the heat and intense colour of the Northern Territory; coasts of blues; McLaren Vale vineyards of green; along with still life subjects as well.
Dent’s paintings are lyrical, exuding an atmosphere beyond the observed outlook. The rhythm of landscape is captured in a resonance of colour, both subtle and vivid.

Exhibition opens Saturday 18 April from 2pm. Preview the exhibition on our website www.diggins.com.au and download the e-catalogue.
