Vale Peter Walsh

The art world is mourning the untimely passing of artist Peter Walsh on the 16th January, 2009. Peter died of cancer-related problems in Melbourne, aged only 51.

Peter was a gentle, perceptive and unique figure in contemporary art. After studying at the Wimbledon School of Art in London and the VCA in Melbourne, his first exhibition was held in 1986. He exhibited with Lauraine Diggins Fine Art from 2001 and it was a privilege for us to have exhibited Peter’s work for a number of years, to come to know him as a wonderful human being and to appreciate his intelligence and warm friendly presence.

Peter is survived by his children, Hazel and Alice; his partner, Lisa; his mother, Margaret and his brother, Andrew.

We are sure that all who met Peter were touched by his easy manner and wicked smile, as we were. He will be sadly missed.

Robert Clinch Solo Exhibition

Contemporary artist Robert Clinch will be exhibiting at Shepparton Art Gallery from the 14th Febuary until the 15th of April 2009. Clinch’s striking imagery transports the viewer to a fictional but hauntingly real world; telling accessible tales of loneliness, joy, injustice, humour, melancholy and whimsy.
