Accompanied by authentication certificate from David McNeil. In 1944, after Chagall's first wife died, a French speaking English woman, Virginia McNeil, was hired as his housekeeper. A diplomat's daughter, bright and cosmopolitan, she begame Chagall's muse and lover until 1951. Their son, David McNeil, was born in 1946 in New York. This drawing was owned by David until 1987 and the new owner exhibited the drawing throughout Europe and in Florida, USA between 1988 and 2002.
